Extension of K-ETA Temporary Exemption
The Ministry of Justice decided to extend the temporary exemption period of 1 more year to stimulate the tourism industry, the exemption will be effective until 31 December 2026.
*Extended K-ETA temporary exemption period: From 01 January 2026 to 31 December 2026
The countries/regions that are currently exempt from K-ETA are subject to this extension. Those who are subject to the exemption will get a pop-up message when they scan a photo of their passport information page during the application.
Still, those who wish to receive benefits from K-ETA approval, such as not having to submit an arrival card, may apply for K-ETA; in that case, the application fee will be charged.
Those who have obtained K-ETA can use it until its expiration date and the application fee paid is non-refundable.

Automated Immigration Clearance (Smart Entry Service) Now Available for 18 Countries
Starting 01 December 2025, the Ministry of Justice will expand the number of countries eligible to use automated immigration clearance from 4 to 18. This change is designed to shorten waiting times at immigration and make arrival in Korea faster and more convenient for international visitors.
Eligibility: Anyone aged 17 and above holding passports from the following countries/regions
Singapore, Australia, Czech Republlic, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Macao, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Taiwan, United Arab Emirates and United Kingdom
Registration is required
- A one-time registration is required at Incheon Airport Terminal 1 (arrival counters A & F) and Incheon Airport Terminal 2 (arrival counters A & B)
- Travellers may use the e-Gates immediately upon successful registration
- The registration remains valid till the passport expires.
